Soccer Formations: 2-3-5
´

´
Of all the soccer formations, the 2-3-5 is the most attacking with no less than five forwards.
This classic formation was used by England and Scotland in the 1880s and so you are now looking at the very oldest formation I’m covering in this whole section!
Now whilst it the great number of forwards is beneficial for attack, the downside of this formation is of course that you leave just two defenders at the back. Nowadays you’d have to think twice about doing that simply in attack let alone the whole match!
Nevertheless this formation holds its place in the record books so I am duty bound to cover it in this guide. But if you’re going to take all the information you’ve read and pick your favourite formation, I strongly advise you choose something with a few more defenders in!
