Traffic Lights
Traffic Lights is one of the free soccer drills which is intended for players aged 6+. It’s basically a game of dribbling and awareness, but you can also develop other skills.

When you’re doing this excercise, you can use about a quarter of the pitch depending on how many players there are.
Every player has a ball (in the diagram each red circle is a player and the black dot is the ball). Players dribble the ball round their grid until the coach holds up a cone. The red cone means they have to stop and put their foot on the ball. They then begin dribbling again until the coach holds up a yellow cone. This means they have to change direction with a turn. When the players see a green cone being held up, they have to increase their speed.
The technical benefits of this one of the free soccer drills are thay players need to get their head up (vision/awareness), they can practice dribbling as well as changing speed and direction. The physical outcomes are running, turning, movement, balancing, changing speed and coordination whilst players can also develop communication, observation and focus.
