Free Soccer Drills: Throw, Head, Catch
Throw, Head, Catch is one of the free soccer drills which should be played by people aged 10+. It is really a warm up activity, but as you can imagine it mainly gives you heading practice.

Split the group up into two teams (team 1 and team 2 as shown in the diagram). One player in each team starts with a ball. He throws it up to a teammate who heads it to another teammate who catches it. He then throws it up for someone to head. Both teams should keep doing this whilst moving around the grid.
As a progression, each team gets a point whenever they complete one throw, head, catch sequence. When you complete a sequence you retain your ball, but your ball can be intercepted by the other team and you can intercept the opposition’s ball.
Now what will you gain from this drill? Why bother? Well, it works on your heading, control, throw ins, catching (for a goalie) and finding space. Also, you can develop coordination, jumping, movement, running, turning, balancing, decision making, communication, focusing and challenging.
