Free Soccer Drills
Individual Soccer Drills
Free soccer drills help you because “soccer is simple, but it is difficult to play simple” (Johan Cruyff)
To be honest, most actual free soccer drills involve many people taking part in the same excercise. So if you want actual soccer practice drills then you can just look a bit further down the page at the ‘group drills’ section.
But there are some things I can suggest you do on your own that will help improve your techiques. I have listed just three here, but you can use your imagination to come up with others- anything that works on the skills we discussed in the ’soccer skills’ section will be very useful. Here goes;
- Ball & a Wall: You can practice soccer for hours simply by passing a ball against a wall and then controlling it when it comes back to you. You could also throw it against the wall and try heading it when it bounces back. This is totally simply I know, but why not?
- Kick Ups: Top pros can do hundreds of these at once with absolute ease. The aim is to keep the ball in the air by kicking it with your feet without letting it touch the floor. It’s tricky, but as they say, practice makes perfect!
- Target Practice: In your garden, a park, a square or wherever, find something you can use as a target. Then try to kick the ball- both passing and shooting- at the target. Improve your accuracy as you go and then move further and further away. Eventually you’ll be able to kick the ball with power and accuracy and this will pay off for your game in the long run.
These are the casual, individual drills you can do on your own with nothing but yourself, a ball and whatever else you can find.
Group Soccer Drills
To practice these free soccer drills you’ll need a group of players with you- so if you play for a team, club or your school why not have a go? If not, then you could always get together with your friends to try them. Whatever you do, make sure you come back and look at this page as there are plenty more excercises to come!
