Famous People Who Support Arsenal
Hi everyone,
This is the second in my series of posts about Arsenal: the greatest club in the universe! Here I’ve made a dream team of eleven of the most famous people who support Arsenal. This is just for fun clearly, but take note of these celebrities and give the same support! Obviously I haven’t researched the actual positions of these people, primarily because they probably don’t (all) play soccer themselves, so here goes my own lineup (note that the numbers refer to their squad number…now that’s geeky):
´
Goalkeeper
1) The Queen
´
The Queen, reported by the Sun newspaper in the Uk, allegedly told Cesc Fabregas that she was an Arsenal fan. Clearly she has to be on this list, then, and what a tribute to Arsenal. As for her position as a goalkeeper…well she does wear the gloves!
´
Defenders
2) Nick Hornby
´
If you haven’t seen the film Fever Pitch, based on Nick Hornby’s book about Arsenal, I thoroughly recommend you do because it will help you to live and breathe Arsenal… and it stars Colin Firth. If you’re a Hornby fan, you might also have seen the film adaptations of his books High Fidelity (John Cusack, Jack Black) and About a Boy (Hugh Grant, Toni Collette) which are both equally fantastic. In the latter, the greater film buffs amongst you will have noticed that the boy named Ali in the film has an Arsenal badge in his room. Now there’s subliminal messaging for you! Who better to defend Arsenal than Nick Hornby?
3) Kevin Costner
´
Kevin Costner’s action hero status makes him an ideal addition to the backline. Indeed, his performances in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves (Alan Rickman, Christian Slater, Saun Connery, Morgan Freeman) and Waterworld certainly support this conclusion. Watch is films, follow his lead.
5) Martin Kemp
´
Martin Kemp, star of music group Spandau Ballet and TV soap Eastenders, is yet another famous Arsenal fan. Apparently he was invited to train with Arsenal when he was younger, so hopefully he won’t be too displeased with centre-back here!
6) Matt Lucas
´
Matt Lucas role alongside David Walliams in Little Britain has made him a brilliantly popular figure in Britain, and they’ve now exported the show to America. Whilst he’s now doing some other things, I don’t doubt that his commitment to Arsenal remains the same.
´
Midfielders
4) Prince Harry
´
Like his grandnother the queen, Harry his an Arsenal fan. He may not be the President of the FA like Prince William, but this is even better for me. The only thing letting all this down is that his girlfriend is called Chelsy!
7) Aled Jones
´
At right wing you’d want Aled Jones to have a bit of pace, so let’s hope his claim of ‘walking in the air’ is a true one. He sung his praises to the ‘beloved Arsenal’ on British TV and in my book that warrants a place in the first team lineup.
Alan Davies
´
Alan Davies, the star of QI and Jonathan Creek, is one of my favourite comedy actors ever. He is very funny and the fact that he’s an Arsenal fan is just a bonus. Plus he has cool hair.
11) Piers Morgan
´
Piers Morgan rose to fame from a journalistic background and as you probably know, features in Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Talent and Piers Morgan’s Life Stories. He may upset a lot of people (Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear punched him in the face), and his criticism of Arsenal is not gratefully received. Nevertheless he is a great TV personality and his shows are great. Plus he’s an AFC fan, so he’s here.
´
Strikers
9) Ronnie O’Sullivan
´
Ronnie O’Sullivan’s accuracy in potting snooker balls is intended to rub off on his soccer performance. He’s a keen Arsenal fan and keeps fit, so hopefully he’ll run and score goals for fun. Whether or not you like snooker, Ronnie is a vital inclusion.
10) Osama bin Laden
´
The final man in the lineup, and one of the strikers, is Osama bin Laden. He used to live in England and became an Arsenal fan. Arsenal have now barred him from their stadium….oooh, so I may have to find a replacement for this lineup. That’s not such a pity and he’ll remain banned.
´
So, that was the very geeky lineup of famous people who support Arsenal, complete with squad numbers and everything. That’s really a quick summary of some of the better names you could choose with a little bit of info about some great celebrities (with exceptions obviously). If you’re interested in a more comprehensive list, then I suggest you visit ArseWeb where you’ll find all the names and links you need.
Have fun,
Soccer Geek

Brilliant…thanks for the additions. It’s always great to hear from a fellow Arsenal fan!
I noticed Jay-Z on your list. For anyone else interested there’s a good article about him supporting AFC here: http://bit.ly/aqk2Ol It suggests he may even wish to invest in Arsenal in the future!
Cheers
THANKK
ARSENAL ARE THE BEST AND THAT ARTICLE WAS COOL
Its so good that all these people support arsenal well they must because even though we have gone ages without a trophy we are still the best team in the world x Espeically that we have CESC FABREGAS twice the player as lional messi xx
I’m glad you have such faith in the team and our captain. Arsenal play fantastic football and I’m sure we’ll get back to winning trophies eventually…it just seems a long process at the minute!
EVEN THOUGH ARSENAL HAVENT ONE A TROPHY RECENTLY THEY STILL HAVE THE MOST TROPHYS THEN ANY OTHER PREMIERE LEAGUE TEAM
Great post & Fantastic blog! I would definitely love to begin a blog too but I have no clue where to begin. I possess the ability to do it (not that challenging on the technical part) but I really feel like I am too lazy to post regularly. That is the problem, if you start you have to go all the way. However blogs like yours inspire me to have a go at it.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been receiving the support he needs not only for winning matches but also turn out to be the celebrity he is these days. Cristiano Ronaldo has also modelled for a number of major-brand names, recently doing a modelling shoot for a well-known jeans organization.
hello im so happy that Marouane Chamakh has joined arsenal he is such a good player he well definetly improve arsenal
I hope so and the season ahead could prove you right! Wenger must have spotted talent and potential there certainly and it could pay off
i cannot believe that edouardo is leaving i really wanted him to stay i think that it is because arsene wenger hardly ever put him on to play but i think arsenal will do well this season but the only problem with arsenal is that when they lose a game they lose there confidence
Yes it is a shame that he had to go, it would have been nice for him to succeed at Arsenal but things seemed to get bogged down after his horrific injury.
I also agree with you that Arsenal lose confidence after a defeat- this often then leads to a bad string of results. Let’s be optimistic that we can improve on this tendency soon!
ARSENAL HAVE WON THE EMIRATES CUP THEY SO DESERVED IT BRILLIANT GOALS. ARSENAL 3:2 CELTIC
Yes, that’s great news. 3 cup wins out of 4 for Arsenal now! Unfortunately I couldn’t make this year’s tournament, but have enjoyed going to two of the previous competitions.
Bring on the new season!
i believe that arsenal will win a trophy this season
I think that Fabio Cappello is regretting not putting Walcott on the world cup
